From August 27th to September 2nd, 2012, Global Partnership of Asian Colleges (GPAC 2012) was held at Seoul National University, Korea. Participating in GPAC 2012 were the students from seven universities in Asia including: Seoul National University (Korea), VNU University of Economics and Business (Vietnam), Keio University (Japan), Chiba University (Japan), Meio University (Japan), Chengchi National University (Taiwan) and University of Management (Israel). The group of UEB consisted of 3 students from Business administration faculty and 16 students from other faculties (International Business and Economics, Business Administration, Banking - Finance, Political Economics), led by Dr Pham Thi Hong Diep, and had a very successful conference.

GPAC was initiated in 1991 by Prof. Min Sang Ki (College of Business Administration of Seoul National University) and Prof. Haruo Shimada (Chiba University of Commerce, Japan). GPAC was proposed to encourage students to express their ideas about regional and global economic situation and to actively interact with others. After 21 years, GPAC is now an annual contest in economics and culture for students of 5 Asian countries

Presenting the research topics in fields of business administration such as “Implementing lean manufacturing in Vietnamese enterprises” and other 6 topics related to International Trade, Macro-economics, International Finance, Environment Economics… , 3 students of Business administration and students of other faculties were highly appreciated by professors as well as international friends. Although they had made many presentations in English in classes that being listened by international students made them nervous but also motivated be to prepare very carefully. Through the presentations, it was proud to say that Vietnamese students were equal to international students in English, professionalism and presentation skills. However, we needed more confidence to express our views and common knowledge about global and Asian culture and history.

In addition, students from 5 countries were divided into 12 groups, which was the spotlight of GPAC. The groups had to make discussion under the theme of “Rethinking Capitalism”. They were asked to come up with creative solutions to the topic: Financial regulations, Derivatives, Welfare and Key currency.

GPAC 2012 in Seoul has left unforgettable memories of the last summer in their student’s life. Besides the official seminars, they also had the opportunities to visit the beautiful Seoul - a crowded but also romantic city. Although they were surprised and shy when first talking to international friends, during the time in Seoul, they discussed together about the presentation and so, they got to know more about each other and become close friends.

“All good things come to an end”, GPAC 2012 was no exception. The last day at the GPAC 2012 really was a memorable day full with memories. All groups seemed to strive for perfect moments together to play beside the Han River and other scenic Seoul from above, sitting together in the middle of the night to talk about the dreams and plans after graduation. Opportunity to meet and become friends was because of a reason, it would be difficult for everyone to sit down together, work together and have fun together the GPAC 2012; therefore these moments would become unforgettable memories of youth. Thanks for everything, the day not so far in the future, we hope to meet again somewhere in this small world.
